My second stint at the OpenTherm Association has come to an end. As you might know I spent my time between OpenTherm and another association called SITO, a Dutch employers association. SITO offered me the opportunity to become a member of the board which will consume most of my time during the week. That is why I had to make the decision to stop working for OpenTherm.

OpenTherm now has approximately one hundred members and has reached a certain level of majority. Especially now with a fully functioning test tool, a renewed protocol version 5 which can handle heat pumps and boilers even better than ever before.

During our last general meeting in Germany it became once again clear that OpenTherm is ready for the future and that our members are still enthusiastic about the protocol. Furthermore, we saw a lot of new people, a new generation so to say has entered “the OpenTherm world”. In my opinion it is wonderful to see that also the new generation values personal interaction between OpenTherm members, so we can learn from each other and even further improve the protocol and the organization.

Personal interaction between members has always been a key success factor for OpenTherm. I therefore hope that many members will meet “live” at the next general meeting in France.

My second stint at OpenTherm again was very enjoyable, together with Jur and Huite Jan. We had many discussions about the future, all kinds of technical matters and discussions about how OpenTherm should mature as an organization. I am very grateful to have been part of this team; Thank you Jur and Huite Jan!

Many thanks also to the board; it was a joy to work with you. I am sure we will stay in touch and will see each other in the future.

Last but most certainly not least; a great thanks to all the members who have supported OpenTherm all those years and still keep doing so!
For all the new members now and in the future; please visit the meetings and take advantage of each others knowledge, because that is what OpenTherm is all about; friendship between members.

Regards, Frank
